Basically the car I just bought has just been taxed for 6 months so don't want to declare SORN.
I drove the car back on trade insurance, so I'm covered, cars not. Previous owner has now cancelled insurance and the car is NOT on motor insurance database.
I will want to swap the insurance over Tuesday, is this OK? Because the car will be unSORN and uninsured for two days.
Is this OK?
-
Technically no but i cant see two day making much difference :undecided:
-
if its taxed and got an mot, as long as you dont actually drive it you should be ok till tuesday
just tell the insurance your about to pick it up when you call them
-
Haha OK. I'll stick it on the drive and get to work on it sometime anyway.
-
as above. technicaly a no no.
My trade insurance allow me to drive with my documents incase I got pulled over by the police (insurance office closed on weekends)
You could drive it but if you cant prove cover then you get the car taken off you.
-
As long as its taxed and you DONT drive it then its fine.

Has it actually come into force now then? Remember reading it but didn't realise it had already happened ? ? ?
-
so the car has tax? just no insurance?
park it off road, if its on the street then police can take it. and then theres always the worry of someone stealing it or crashing into it.

yes alan , so the post above is incorrect too

As of today if it's is taxed it must have insurance, regardless of where it is kept. £100 fine.

Got away with 13 days without insurance then declared SORN online.
-
Did they catch up to you or did you just decide not to chance it any longer?
-
Nah just got the logbook through and did it online the second I opened it.
