Title: Projecto Skoda Fabio VRS
Post by: Fabla on 19 June 2011, 00:16: Car - Skoda Fabia VRS, 1.9tdi ~~130bhp 223 lbft torque~~ Now 165bhp 280lbft torque. :evil:
Upgrades/mods so far - black grill, black fog surrounds, black inserted headlights, carbon interior, tinted Windows, colour coded handles, new skoda badges all round including centre caps, facelift octavia vrs grill badge, new shape fabia badge on boot, vw wheel bolt covers, smooth green painted callipers, full refurb alloys (Thanks Deano, auto scuffs), lowered on Eibach pro kit, seat cupra bushes, cupra r splitter, Mintex pads & drilled/grooved discs all round, Sony cd player, mk5 golf rear arm & blade wiper.

Although if you put a rear ARB on it, it's supposed to make it a bit better.

And then it'll still handle like a lump-hammer, when you're pushing through corners, because all the weight's at the front.

Still, at least the looks are commensurate with the handling.

Dont pay too much attention to DH. Take him with a pinch of salt as he likes to get reactions out of people, and isnt well liked by some on here. He does really know what he is talking about though so if you cut through the digs, you can take a lot from what he says.:wink:

Got the mk4 golf mouldings on today, sh!te myself doing it though incase I peeled the paint off my doors, but thankfully all went smoothly.

Used a toffee wheel and some de-greaser to get it all off.
Lined the new ones up and stuck on with double sided tape and Walla!!

Nice dog though. :wink:

Snifferdog, the back door was a direct fit but the fronts had to be trimmed about 12mm and I had to cut the locating lugs off. Easy job though, just had to take my time.

Next exterior plan is to go dark on the alloys to go with the black roof etc.
Gonna try and find a suitable colour routing through Deano's (auto scuffs) colour chips tomorrow.
Wanna go dark but with a slight shimmer.

Yep!! I was rolling down the heads of valley in sixth and decided to reset the 'trip computer' giving me my average MPG of 200.

It has a few scratches and a small crack underneath it but it is ok. Im just thinking of less work if i get the other 1 as its freshly painted in my colour so its a straight fit.

Apparently it was cheaper to buy the r32 dsg flappy paddle steering wheel for this guy, but obviously not linked up. Other than that it's a direct swap.

EBay! Search for original Honda aerial or the new shape Vw polo aerial will fit.
Very similar looking but I went for the Honda one as the reception is supposed to be excellent, which it is.

Uncliped the gaiter and wrapped it's skirt over the head to reveal how much I could drop.
Cut the metal clip off.

Started cutting about 1" 1/4 off with a pipe cutter. (Cleaner cut than a hacksaw)

34,647,890 turns later. (Takes a while getting through 2.5mm of metal)

At this point I had to drill the groove out of the middle of the gear knob that stops it turning on the stick.
12mm drill bit sorted this.

Widened the groove that the original clip was housed in to make room for a wider jubilee clip.

Gaiter is now a bit more crumpled, but I can live with that.
Changing gear feels a lot better and feels comfy lower down.

The seats are a pain the arse to keep clean. They let the car down in practicality.

I guessed that was the case, I have the same issue with the light middle parts on mine. :smiley:
