Title: Is it worth bidding on this Polo?
Post by: stu646 on 18 June 2011, 12:42
Don't really know much about Polo's and if they run well ect.

What do people think of this one? I was thinking a offer of £1100 as no tax on it

I wouldnt pay more than what you were thinking tbh. Pretty high milage, no tax, and probably not any history.  :undecided:

Yep, thought the offer was about right, but the no history is a bit worrying.

Says on the ebay link, he may be able to find it. To be honest, if he can find no history at all, it may be a no buy for me. I may be being picky, but always good to see what the car has or has not had done in the past

history doesnt mean much though tbh, lots of storys of garages and dealers stamping the book but not doing the work

As it long as it sounds right, and got some receipts of the latest clutch and cambelt then I'd other about that. Don't know if he thinks it being a 5 door makes it more as it's "rare"!

Worth £1200 to anyone as a cheap runabout, history does not matter so much on budget cars.

I'd check the g/box as they are know to be dodgy and on a high mileage car it could be an issue.

My mate had a sexy black one but it went through 5, yes 5, g/box through one reason or another. Could do it blind folded by the end of it.

He punted it on shortly after as the love was gone. Do sound good with a BMC filter on though.

But if you want something with similar performance, a bit different and should be cheaper, track down a polo saloon 6n2 1.6CL 100bhp, same engine as gti just different management/ exhaust makes up the 25bhp difference. Would get a low mileage cracker for 1100.
I used to own one and it was brilliant until it was shortened 3ft by a large lorry
