after a few mods i decided to get it on the rolling road saturday gone..after a flawless run i was told that my car was producing 105bhp @ the wheels but i was not told the bhp @ the flywheel is there a way i can guess what its producing or is it more of an estimated guess?!
-
it's probably pushing 122 at the flywheel - its round about 12% lost through transmission for fwd and 33% lost thru 4x4.
Mine was pushing out 165 at the flywheel - so I figured I've got c150 at the wheels.
-
165 out of an 8 valve?? How??
-
Thats a lot for an 8v? have you fitted a turbo?? ;)
-
mine was doing 140.5bhp at flywheel but only 95.5bhp at the wheels! ???
you can't just say that every car will be losing about 12%.
i would guess yours is doing more than mine at the flywheel. what have you done to it?
-
What you done to yours concept?
-
soz - mine was a 16v Mk2
sorry for the confusion - I was probably pissed when I posted ;D
-
"mine was doing 140.5bhp at flywheel but only 95.5bhp at the wheels"
I understood that a std mk2 8v would push out 118bhp at the flwheel and 100 at the wheel.
That was my rule of thumb - mk4 maybe a different kettle o'fish !!
btw - I guess fuelling has to come into consideration - my 16v was running so lean Grantmotorsport managed to get 12bhp thru mixture alone!!!
-
when i got these figures it was running original air box (with lots of plastic missing from it), mesh removed from air flow meter, kent cam and pulley, and powerflow system from cat back. i'm currently working on another engine for it!
-
25bhp extra out of cam and exhaust, what degree cam have you fitted?
-
cam - i don't know the spec of it. i'll check it out tomorrow as it's in its box again. think it was just the norm fast road jobbie. tweeking the pulley got +3bhp. powerflow exhaust made a big difference. i've now got cat bypass which has provided some more torque lower down and generally improved drivability
-
Naughty, you're not allowed to remove your cat ;)
-
just decided to put air filter and exhaust in it and some guy did a fuel mod? when i took it down so not much really.... but i do want to put webbers into it is this possible and if so is it easy??? all answers on the back of a post card to me
