Just popped into town at lunchtime and noticed a mk2 which caught my eye about a week ago and I'm a bit confused as to what it is, maybe somebody can shed some light on it?
It's a mk2 golf on an H plate in tornado red, the thing that caught my eye was the fact that it has the BBS bodykit. Today I noticed that the badge on the back says "rallye golf" the badge is all one piece with the rallye above golf and in the style of the golf driver badge i.e. raised silver writing on a square black background. It also has some sort of black multi spoke wheels with the faces of the spokes machined back to silver. It has a twin pipe exhaust which does lead me to believe it is something with a bit of poke. Everything looks factory standard but what on earth is it???
I'm a bit confused by the "rallye golf" badge when the bodyshell is a standard golf apart from the BBS kit.

could he not have just stuck a badge on it?

actually thinking about it weren't bbs bodykits for small bumpers? i thought all h plate gti would have been big bumpers? you should loiter around and ask the owner a bit about it?

werent everything past G reg 90spec meaning they all had big bumpers as standard :undecided:

My GL has big bumpers so maybe your are right sassy
-
late mk2's that weren't gti or gl's still got the smaller bumpers
so you can get things like a j reg golf driver with the small bumpers still
try and get some pics toby, as that is no rallye!

i think gl up had big bumpers as standard but still..... an hreg should have 'em if its at least a gti

Was it being driven by a reallye mupput toby, if not then its not the real McCoy

My girlfriends h plate driver has small bumpers so I think big bumpers were still an option on everything but the 16v gti after 1990. This thing has small bumpers with the BBS kit. The strange thing is the "rallye golf" badge itself. It's not like the actual golf rallye badges if you see what I mean.
The car has been there for over a week now so I might pop back after work for a nose round.
Will have to bring in my camera tomorrow John and see if anybody can work out what the hell it is.
It's obviously not a proper rallye due to the bodyshell for a start.

Actually thinking about it wasn't the BBS bodykit only available for a very short while in 1985 or something???
Maybe this thing is somebodys own mongrel creation

Well it did have a dodgy chav kermit & miss piggy sun visor strip so just maybe

sounds like a hash up of whatever he found laying around!!!! and yeah i thought bbs kits were early 80's too.

Stopped and had a better look today, it didn't have a gti interior so I guess it was just a CL or something underneath. What a waste of a BBS kit!!!

PICS??

does it look like this? :undecided:
