Title: Ibiza - anyone been?
Post by: fishnchipsx2 on 15 June 2011, 01:19
Small group of lads looking at taking a holiday towards the end of July, looking at Ibiza (altho not everyone is entirely convinced yet due to prices of club entry, drinks etc)

Some of you must have been,  so any tips or hints on how to keep the holiday cheap, or anything to be wary of?

Cheers :afro:

Ive been a couple of times and really enjoyed it.Very expensive but if you go on an 18-30s package self catering it works out pretty damn cheap, all you need money for is your food and drink.
It's pretty expensive to be honest but a real good time.
Start drinking in the west end as its a bit cheaper, then head to a club of your chice.

One thing i would suggest is hiring out peds or a little vitara for the week.
I did this bot times and you get to see so much more of the island and it makes exploring a lot better. We cruised on round to playa den bosa then talamanca and you can find a lot of quiet secluded beachs you can sit and enjoy the sun.

We stopped in San Antonio and regularly cruised up to Ibiza town but found there was a bit too many fruity men dressed like women for us so tended to stop at Bar M as it's close to the beach and if your there most of the day they start giving you free food and stuff.

Youv'e got to try it once just to say you have lol

I spent £1200 in a week and that was having one meal a day! Too much drink and minge kept me clear of food

Great island, great vibes. As mentioned I would personally stay away from the west end, its basically like magaluff. If you do go the west end your wasting your holiday as there is so much more to see & do!

Im hoping to go for a few nights in aug, as I already have too many holidays booked.

Clubs/night to go to:
- we love Space sundays @ space
- F**k me im famous @ pacha (personally believe this is the best night on the island)
- Pete Tong wonderland - @ Eden (sadley the west end, chance of few nobs in there but still good)
- Tiesto - @ priviledge (worlds biggest club, spend 10k a night on light bulbs!!)
- Circo Loco - DC10 (Ibiza's most contrivertial clubs after the goverment keep trying to shut it down!!!)

I would Also mention sunset strip! Cant believe no one has. Cafe Del Mar, Cafe Mambo playing great house tracks whilst you sip a ice cold beer watching the sun go down with a good 1k + people.  A lot of DJ's warm up at mambo so the tunes will be in full affect when the sun does go down.

Also hit up the old town, the bus can be taken from the west end bus station for a couple of euros and has a great vibe with big celeb yachts parked in the bay.  You can chill outside bars drinking watching the parades for the nightclubs go by.  Well worth doing before going to pacha.

Daytime, forget the pool! Beaches are where its at!!! Many wristbands for nightclubs are given away for free if you can sweet talk the girls who premote.

Its a great Island I love it as you can tell! so make sure you go!

Mike.

+1 playa den bossa is the place to be much less in your face.
the big clubs are expensive we only went to 2 of them during our stay at £25 quid a pop, one was a 24 hours session with free beach bbq party the day after. but we only managed about 4 hours in there, the smaller free clubs were better imo kiss was free with foam partys and cheap drinks

I'll tell you now, unless you hang around San Antonio in the sh1tty bars for as long as you're there there's no way you can do Ibiza on the cheap. I've been loads of times and always spend a fortune. Went with the Mrs for a lone weekend the week before we got married in 2009 and we spent £1600 in four days !

Clubs are a fortune, drinks are a fortune. The pound to the Euro is scandalous. Bora Bora is quality for the beach during the day, but a pint will cost you about £7 quid and it goes up later in the day.

For the money you'll spend over there I'd rather go somewhere like Mexico.

Ive been every year for the past 9 years! i love it! yes it is expensive for drinks and to get in the super clubs but its not all expensive. the superclubs are dear because they are the best clubs on the planet with the best dj's on the planet playing there. The smalls bars are normal prices though. But the way i do it is i see whats on the week im going choose what clubs look the best that week and pre book tickets here before you go. Its way cheaper that way.

We always have a drink in the hotel before we go out which is pretty standard in most holidays but i tend to miss the bars and go straight to the clubs which i book tickets for. Doing it that way i always spend around £500-600.

Ive been 3 times and always been San Antonio Bay, cheapest accomodation (who stays in anyway?? and more beer money ) and thats what i was after!

For example the club prices (Space can be 60 euros entry) then your looking at 15 euro's a drink, nights can easy end up costing £300.

Pacha is just amazing, the vibe in there gives you goosebumps, many happy times watching Mr Tong in there.
Amnesia for the foam partys
Eden for water partys and Judge Jules
Space for a blowout (Carl Cox on 21st birthday, best night of my life)
Privilege biggest club in the world, enough said really, has its own pool
DC10 always been closed/opened due to drugs, it is messy, especially on a monday morning straight after you leave Space

It really is a magical island you could go back to year after year if you have the funds, its been a mecca for clubbers for the last 20 or so years and will continue.

And as said earlier, the gem is Sunset Strip. Cafe del Mar and Cafe Mambo are just amazing, sit down have a coctail, watch the sun set and they always play this tune that ends right as the sun completely disappears, the music stops and the hundreds of people lining the beach there and the restraunts and bars start cheering and clapping, it really is a special moment.

You will need £1000+ for a weeks stay spending money each, after hotel/flight costs.

It is a mass drainer of your hard earned wedge, but i would go back out there every summer if i could without fail, it feels like home
