Title: ND Filters & holder

Now another new topic for my ever learning adventure in photography!

I would like some ND filters I think for landscape shots, I've been reading up and the common Cokin P series (available in Jessops) suffers with colour casts on Canon sensors.

So I've looked at Hitech filters, where I could have the same kit for slightly cheaper.

Anyone use these types and filters or could cast anymore light onto the subject?

TBH you generally get what you pay for, I've got the cokin p series and they are fine on the Nikon, but they aren't the same quality as the Hoya filters I've also got, I'd imagine it would be the same with the Hitech

Lee filters are meant to be the best with the "Big Stopper" being awesome for long exposure landscapes. They also do good grad filters.

Nice link DH but I would avoid screw on filter of that cost as you are limited to what lens you can use it on. Bit of a bind that.

Filters is something I need to get in my kit bag but at the moment I stick with LR for applying them post shoot which is OK but just not as good.

At $400 it's a f*cking expensive filter, full stop!

Like the review said you can buy the 77 mm filter and get stepping rings for your smaller lenses. Had a look at prices of stepping rings and they are pretty cheap

this is the same principle behind the Cokin / lee system, the only problem with stepping rings is that you lose the ability to use a hood, not quite so important for ND filters, but if you're using a PL then odds are it's going to sunny so the hood would be useful.
