hi just wondering if any one has had this problem its usually on a morning but doesn't happen all the time ,i turn the key engine starts and then suddenly cuts out after several attempts and keeping my foot on the accelerator it starts any input would be grateful as my neighbours will be complaining about the noise at 5.15am :grin:

This happened to me in my old 8v, turned out to be the ignition switch. Happened in the VR yesterday at the Airport :(

This gets asked and covered in the Mk3 section most weeks so do a search on 'cutting out' and there are pages and pages of answers.

Isn't that what happens when the immobiliser kicks in? Starts for a second or 2 before cutting out....... :huh:

that doesnt sound good but its started with no problems today will just have to put up with it for now :cry:

That's only if it has an immobiliser installed, both of mine didn't.

yes it has an imobilizer and has being doing it again today eventually starting after several attempts just wondering if it could be anything else like a sensor or throttle body would it be noticed if i were to put it on a machine at a garage i really want to fix it but dont know where to start :sad:

I had this problem on mine, cleaned the throttle body and haven't had a problem starting since. Cheers barney
