Title: Early/late rear spring cup?
Post by: Bellend on 13 June 2011, 22:56
Was lowering a friends MK3 today, fronts fit fine, rears just noticed the springs where a bit smaller in width so the top spring cups were too big. This was on a 1998 car. What year spring cups will I need so they fit?

In other words what counts as early/MK2 type?

I always thought all rear springs were the same size.  :undecided:

Bollocks.

They don't fit, they are too small at the top. I fitted them but said it needs doing ASAP. It sits there OK but it should be bigger to fit snugly. It's smaller then the original spring.

Says MK3 on the springs and the fronts fit perfect.
