Right, car went into local vw dealer for an MOT today, failed on cv gaiters, apparently they were split. They replaced one which was fine but they have now turned round and said they can't replace the other one as it is seized solid to the driveshaft. Now they have quoted me for a new driveshaft, £280.00. Needless to say I think they are taking me for a ride and am heading down first thing in the morning to have a look. I have never heard of this being the case in the past, what are other people views/ideas on this? I am now on the hunt for a specialist in my area, Norwich/Norfolk who will carry out the repair but I am a bit concerned that my car may now be completely undriveable or should it be a case that they can just reassemble what they have tried to fix so that I can take it to a specialist?. Bloody nightmare, never had a problem with them in the past but this is the last time they will see my car.

I guess the issue is that the joint is seized on in which case they cannot replace the gaitor.
