Title: Ride Height Advise - Pic
Post by: iyrix on 13 June 2011, 12:31
Hey All,

Im looking for a fast road setup, i've fitted some coilovers and the handling is a lot better, im wondering if it should be slightly lower at the back or all round.  Or maybe not at all.  Anyone got any good advice before i change it again.

Thanks

For driving - leave it.
For posing - slam it.

take it out for a drive. go over some speedbumps. go round some corners at speed. keep lowering by 10mm till you rub the arches or your sump jits a speed bump. then raise by 20mm

Don't go too low then and make sure you get the suspension geometry set up properly once you've finished fettling with the ride height.

For good balance and driving you'll want the wishbones set level. The back go by this.

                             Reduce understeer    Reduce oversteer

Front height            lower front end         raise front end

Rear height             raise rear end           lower rear end

Khare bear how do you get oversteer on a FWD car?
Its virtually impossible on normal road conditions!

No idea, but last night going round a roundabout in the wet at normal speed I got a handful of it.

honestly mate, normal speed round a roundabout. Boot was full of the camping stuff, but still...wish it was a kart! Can't wait to buy it later this year!

Want it to handle well, then lower it 40mm front 35mm back from standard.
Uprate all the suspension bushes and buy some good antiroll bars.

on a low mk3 oversteer is hard to get.

My standard 16v was crazy for it.

You can also balance the car with rear tyre pressure. high psi gives you oversteer, low psi and the rear end will stay in line.
