Hoping you could tell me the best method for cleaning my isv on my car is it simple carb cleaner job or any other better way of doing this cheers in advance
-
yeah man carb cleaner. leave it to soak for about half an hour
-
ok sounds good cheers mate
-
Yup, that's all I did with mine.
-
Where's this part located & what's it look like? Would a dirty one cause a lumpy idle?
-
It's cylindrical in shape and located below the black plastic ignition lead tray, and yes potentially could affect idle.
-
I used carb cleaner. I sprayed loads of it inside and let it soak for a while, then used a toothbrush to get the crap off the inside. I had a small 12v battery nearby so I got 2 wires connected it to the correct +ve and _ve terminals and fired the ISV up for a few seconds to shift the crap inside. Again I sprayed more carb cleaner inside and repeated the process a few times and eventually clean carb fluid came out. Once dry and clean I sprayed a bit of WD40 to lube up the inside as carb cleaner leaves the ISV very dry inside.

Unplug the wiring and it just pulls off from both the rubber breather hose and the rubber plug in the inlet.
