Title: Using Classic car no claims on standard policy?
Post by: shorty87 on 12 June 2011, 20:57
Heya, was wondering if anyone on here who was in the know might be able answer a quick question!
Basically for the last 2 and a bit years I've been using my 53 bug as a daily and as such have had only a classic car insurance policy. During this time my previous NCB has expired
I was wondering if any companies consider accepting the fact I've been driving for the last two years claim free (and the previous 4 before that!) on a classic car policy?
Lancaster insurance have said they'd write t confirm I've never claimed but that it wouldn't be a "certificate of no claims"
I know its a long shot but it makes a huge difference to quotes!!

you dont build NCB on a classic policy as such, but some  companies might give you an introductory discount for it

footman james said that they would hold mine, but not count it for the policy, so I could still be issued with it for future policies

Guy is right, you need to keep your NCB current and although your classic policy doesn't need or accrue NCB it will keep it up to date.  I'm surprised your current classic policy provider didn't suggest this, but I guess it could be an oversight as you may have been using your NCBs elsewhere when you set the policy up.

Shop around and pop the question you may get a bit of good will but I wouldn't bank on it, as you say it's a long shot.
