Heya, I've just signed up and wanted to say hi!!
Just introducing myself and my cars!
First up is my classic, its been my daily driver for a few years now but its coming off the road this summer for a resto to take up to show standard:
1953 Beetle
(http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z180/ski_shorty87/bug-1.jpg)
To get me back and forward whilst the beetles off the road I got this:
2000 Golf GTi 1.8T with Revo remap
(http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z180/ski_shorty87/Golf%2018T%20Revo/68728216-1.jpg)
I made a mistake and sold this nice black 3 door 1.8t and brought a 5 door 1.8t with a broken cambelt. I had the "new" golf soooo near to being back on the road, and then after skimming and pressure testing the head my friend (who is a mechanic not just a random lol) cracked the head putting it back on...which means 3/4 months down the line and I've still never driven it:

It'll be awesome when its back again but for now is driving me slightly crazy?!
So to cheer myself up I've brought this (it was a bargain so couldn't resist it!!):

Completely standard UK manual 2.0 turbo S14 :) Obviously needs a bit of tlc but can't see much other than the tyres that'll stop it being MOT'd...then it'll be time to get it drifting!!

Lovin how you used a classic beetle for a daily!!
Good luck with the Resto, hope all goes well, and keep us posted with lots of pics as well.
-
Lol tell me about it! It's been a test, not so much of reliability but it doesn't have heating...both winters it snowed were fun!!
I'll keep a good thread going on here and vzi, I'm looking forward to giving it the resto it deserves :)
-
beetle looks cool!
good luck with the resto.
whats vzi?
wouldnt mind a read of some beetle resto threads :-)
-
Vzi is the forum on volkszone, a classic vw site, has looooads of resto threads from beetles to split campers to schwimmwagens!
Has a few water-cooled builds aswell :)

Thank you
Only recently got the golf and i'm so chuffed with it! I needed something a bit exciting to ensure i don't miss driving the bug too much...and the 200bhp remaps sorted that!!
-
Love that beetle.
You got a checklist for the rest yet?
-
a check list as in a wishlist?
-
Yeah, what needs doing?
What are your ideas as to the final product etc.
-
Ah cool, well for the beetle its a full restoration, all welding sorted, new paint, engine rebuild, re wire it all etc etc, that ones going to take time!
The golf needs a new lambda sensor, abs wheelspeed sensor for the MOT, then for my personal benefit I want to replace the tailgate as its got rust below the window, get a key scratch across the bonnet sorted and one wheel needs refurbing, might do the cambelt aswell just to be on the safe side!!
Other than that, i pretty much just want to upgrade the tape player to a rcd200 or something like that...then enjoy it!
Always open to suggestions too though, i love checking out what other people have done :)

Check out the 'project' section, most use this section to get feedback but there are still quite a few project threads in there and you dont have to scroll through everyones comments. Just pics and descriptions of mods made.
