Title: gti ordered
Post by: dean07 on 12 June 2011, 09:26
Posted a few questions on the Gtd thread. Thought I,d start my 1st one. Ordered a Carbon Grey Gti last month, someone cancelled their order so I got the last one for that month( now I know why they cancelled due to reading the posts on here). My question is when I ordered I had 2 cars, one of which I no longer needed so I part exchanged it to the dealer as got a good price for it. I am/was going to also part exchange my main car when I pick up my Gti. But there is no way I am going to wait until maybe December for it. If I cancel my order what happens to the car I part ex,d as its been sold on. I,ll obviously get the price I was given at the time back plus the deposit in money that I put down? If Iwas told about the waiting times I would never ordered the car.

The money you got for your px is just held as partial payment/deposit so you will just get back what they stood it in at. Now if they bought it in cheap and discounted the new car to over allow you might be in a pickle.

Got a dealer discount of £916. Might just have to bite the bullet and wait. But don,t think I could wait until next year. Still can,t get my head around the waiting times. Cheers

Good job you got a cancelled order or your mk6 may have looked like a mk7 but the time it arrived.

By the time you've waited until mid September you may as well wait until December hadn't you - are you just impatient or must you have it sooner?
It would be well worth the wait.

I agree with RickS. Or you can buy a Pigvan and emulate Steve30.

I,ll borrow yours until Dec Rick ha ha. You,ve nearly the exact same one I,ve ordered mate. Reason is mine needs a service and 2 rear tyres in Sept.Already agreed trade in price with dealer. Don,t want to pull money out just to lose it on the trade in. Plus I,m very impatient for the Gti

I'd rather pick up my car in Sept than Dec too. By the time December arrives the roads are covered in salt, it's permanently dark and everyone loses the will to live. At least in September you've got a bit of summer and crisp Autumn to look forward to. If you wait until December you may as well wait intil March.........which with VWs delays is quite possible........

Aye I have thought about that. Whens the Mk7 out? Sept 12. Salesman reckons the Gti won,t be out for 18 months after that. That usually the case as have no experience of VW,s at all

I think I'd wait for a Mk7 GTD with 500BP and 10000000nm of torque please!

Or GTE (electric) .... you know it will happen one day!

Can't disagree with that, and I don't even like to get my car wet; but if he wants the car and it's due for delivery December what can he do, it'll have to go out in bad weather sooner or later? I was lucky with mine, it was originally quoted for December delivery, which I wasn't keen on, but due to all the delays didn't get it till March, so got 10 plate insted of 59 and missed all that shyte weather [Mind you, it was just a bad this year, if not worse]

I would sooner have my car in September so that is kept away from the salt before I got it.

A mate took delivery of a new A5 last January. It had rusty brakes due to been driven around a salted compound and then left to stand for a few weeks before it got to the dealers.

Thing is even if You were told by your Dealer that you could,nt get your Gti/Gtd until Sept 2012 , it would,nt be a Mk 7 would it?

Dealer rang me yesterday and told me the factory had confirmed the order to build my car, and that he was just waiting on the factory to give him a build week. What build week would my car have to have to get it here for Sept if thats possible?

It normally only takes two or three weeks after build to get to the dealer..

Looks like we put our orders in at similar times, maybe they'll get chatting whilst their going down the production line.

Ha ha. Maybe. I still don,t think I,ll get mine for Sept. Not judging by some of the waiting times on this site

Dealer rang me friday as I had a query about my Gti. He said he would ring me with an update on Thursday on how my order was progressing. Told him I had been on this site and that judging by the posts on here about waiting times I said I thought I would,nt see my car this year, which if thats the case it will be getting cancelled. He then said that if I did not have my car after 16 weeks I would be given a VW supply car . All well and good but I still won,t be taking delivery of my car in say December. Anyone else on here had this offer made to them?

I work for a vw dealer Dean and this is common practice. What spec have you got on order I can help you find one if you don't want to wait.

I didn't get the offer so I asked my dealer for a loan car at 16 weeks.

I didn't want to be hit with a reduced trade in value and the cost of MOT, 4 year (big) service + cambelt change which were due 22 weeks after placing my order, especially as I'd expected to have taken delivery of my new car by them. To be fair to the dealer, they've let me keep my current car until my new one is delivered and have stood by the trade-in value they quoted me when I ordered back in November last year, plus they paid for the cambelt change, the MOT and half the service cost.  :smug: Probably cheaper for them in the long run than it would've been to put me in a loan car for 4 months!

Evo1986. Cheers .here,s the spec I ordered. Carbon Grey metallic, bluetooth prep, front and rear parking sensors, 510 radio/cd player and 18" Monza shadow alloys. The thing is I put a car in as trade in plus a deposit. Could get my deposit back no probs but the trade in will have been sold on? How could another dealer get me a Gti sooner than the dealer I placed the order with? Thanks

I'm sure Lee will be along to answer more in depth but each dealer can only put an allocation of 2 or 3 GTI's in a month. So they may well have put one in the system to use a demonstrator or have a previous customers order that was cancelled due to the wait.
So as long as the build date hadn't been locked they can alter the spec.
So in effect you are jumping the queue.

Basically I can search every dealer and port in uk and Germany to see if there is anything that fits the bill. If there is I will put you in touch with where it is heading simples, allocation wise it's a bit tight we only have 1 left which is a demo we have on order in fact carbon grey 5 door manual with a few trimmings.........probably months and months away but will let you know when I am back in tomorrow.

Put this on the Gtd thread instead of here. Dealer rang me today and told me my car has a build week of 35 mid August? Ordered it May18th and judging by some of the waiting times posted on here was expecting i no earlier than December. I am well pleased to say the least. Should I get it mid September if all go,s well?
