Sooooooo getting some POS Corsa with a headgasket issue for free this weekend. 1.4 Auto.
But it means I can take my Golf off the road and strip it completely out.
However I can't decide on a colour. I like the Mystic Blue and that but want a change.
Dunno whether I want light or dark. I like white but there is no reflection. Which means dark but then I dunno if I want light.
Orrr I might just blow over with Mystic Blue.
I want something pearl and really glossy. Help me!
-
Porsche Brown :smug:
-
I like Porsche brown.
If you can't decide a colour, harlequin is an option.
Personally, white wins.
-
Porsche brown is deffo up there.
I do like white but I like a good shine as well.
-
Porsche French Blue or Gulf Blue

Lighter: Ginster Yellow like on some American mk3s. Seriously nice colour. That or Suede Silver form a mk4. When the light hits Suede silver it looks amazingĀ
Darker: there's a shade of grey that came on either mk5s or mk6s that is really deep with a hint of dark blue. I don't know the name of it. All I know is that a mk5 Jetta got a fresh coat of it before a show last month and it was stunning. I'm also partial to Midnight Blue from mk5s.
Don't you dare: Porsche Brown. Everyone wants to/is doing it and yet less than a handful look anyway decent. Suits mk2s, mk1s, mk6s and maybe mk5s but I doubt it. Though if you want a brown there is a really nice Chocolate Brown from I think either BMW or BMW-Mini. I have some pictures of an R32 finished in it and you actually want to lick the paint it looks so good.
-
Just dare? Or double dare?
-
That brown is a standard colour for X1s. I agree, looks much better than the Porsche brown.
Also, ginster yellow is a good shout:

 It's actually a bit darker than a banana colour. It's a very 'full' yellow, if you get me
-
It's a warm yellow. As close to orange as you can get without being noticeably orange.
-
i'd go for oak green.
will look  on a mk3
-
Cheers for the suggestions!
Really unsure if I like light or dark, that yellow is niiiice.
But Jimp/Jack, BMW Brown, amazing suggestion! This is number one at the moment. Thanks.

But I have been doing a LOT of flat and polishing lately, so this will get a GOOD base up, a GOOD even coating of colour then a fair few layers of lacquer and then I will flat and polish it anally.
-
I screwed my face up when people said brown. It reminded me of some old Volvo estate or something!
But seeing that X5, it looks fooking awsome!!!!

Mocha for the Mini range is another choice for a brown
-
Cheers chaps.
Now what colour for the bay?
Cream? Grey?
-
Both would work with brown.
Depends what colours your wheels are gonna be, match them up for some serious cool points.
-
I'm going cream or Ivory when I get my engine out along with my wheels. Looks good on green
-
Cream engine bay would look ace.

Cheers.
I think I will try to weld some flat plates over the legs, smooth them and go cream. Won't be a fully smothed bay though!
-
I'm not liking this thread
I want to do my vr a light brown, baby poo brown lol and then do the bay cream, and everything els cream like, door handles, wiper arms, VW badges, wing mirrors, etc.
We can't have two cars the same lol
-
I'm doing my estate in satin chocolate with cream wheels.
-
I want mine gloss but flat colour, not metallic if you know what I mean.
I'm thinking about doing my dishes cream, centers brown, with brown outer bolts.
Well I was until I read this thread, seems very popular colour scheme.
Might start looking at old bikes and plans for new inspiration
