Title: Black Wing Mirrors - Now Fitted
Post by: Jimmymature on 09 June 2011, 19:10
Just had a play with Dubmodder as I want to see what she'd look like with black mirrors and a set of BBS.

What do you think?

I like the look of the black wing mirrors especially on a CW. Also the BBS CH in black look a bit special.

Was thinking matt black myself, but a nightmare to keep looking good, but they said it can be laminated so it is easy to clean etc

I say go for it Neil. I think it would look quality especially in tandem with your black CH's. How much was the vinyl rap on the mini out of interest?

I'm getting a price on a matt black wrap for my mirrors from Carbonskin.

Here are their prices for roof, full cars etc.  I don't know what their work is like as never dealt with them (yet)

The sensible thing maybe to do is just to by a couple of replacent wing mirror covers ( I think there only about £15 each ) then get them wrapped or painted.

Then you can keep the original ones in case you need to put them back on for whatever reason.

Yes mate, my exact plan, I'm still waiting for a reply to my price request from them.  I'll chase them this morning and post a price when I get them.

£15 each for a new cover?  That's a lot cheaper than I expected

Mirror covers are about £14 from TPS iirc. Covering them yourself is easy peasy. Just warm the vinyl with a hair dryer when you are applying it.

The 3M stuff is so cheap to buy and the mirrors caps are so small, you can afford to have a few goes at getting it spot on. I certainly wouldn't want to pay that sort of £65-75 for it to be done.

Most of them have a trade counter, so you can just call in. Or you can buy over the phone and ask them to deliver to a local garage that's on their rounds. Obviously, you'll need to clear it with the local garage first, but if the items have been paid for, they should not have a problem.
