Title: a wierddddd sound

when i reverse the car i get a loud squeel or something :embarassed:.. nothing is grinding or hiting i dont think as reverses fine just the niose well wierd like a loud metal squeel  :grin:

im thinking will changing the gearbox fluid fix it :undecided:

was thinking that as they do squeek now and then.. but in reverse get load screech everytym.. the dics and pads aint that old tho about 3 months ago had new ones put in .. hope pads aint already gone  :angry:

mine does that occasionally as did my last golf, when reversing pull the handbrake slightly - this stops it on mine so is obviously the rear pads.

Yh ill do the handbrake thing .. Suprised pads gone already only been 3 munths :-@

could be brake pads. if there pretty new and they are low then have a look at your rear axel bushes, if there worn it can give play in the axel in turn causing the pads to rub against your breaks.

mine used to squeel every so oftern going forwards but most of the time going backwards because the rear bushes were worn and had made one of my pads wear down and a small peice of metal was rubbing against the disk.

Raer bushes new too mate got em done with discs and pads lol my bet is on the caliper as about year half ago  when got pads dun mechanic did say rear drivers side caliper is sticking a bit but said shud be ok so I left it. How do I check if its sticking?

Jack car up and see if there is resistance when spinning the wheel.
handbrake off so choc the front wheels.

check the condition of the handbrake cables also maybe split and full of sh#t therefore causing the caliper not to return fully.
