can I ask why?
Even though the engine is basic is till has an ecu which helps to control fuelling and you can't map to give the fuel a carb will need (you can use a stand alone ecu but that's £££)

Solution to make a 1.4 faster?

Sell it and buy a GTI.
I bet a remapped 1.4 on carbs would cost a lot more to build and insure than a standard GTI.

Ring your insurance company and ask them how much it'll be for a 1.4 with bike carbs and a remap...I bet there isn't a huge amount in it.

As said above stand alone management will be needed to see any actual gains which will be flipping expensive and a lot of hassle to get working. After all that it'll still be slower than an 8v Gti, seems pretty daft to me :undecided:

O right I dunno just trying to find some how to give it some more power with out getting a new car etc innit and just heard it helped out alot tbh plus the carbs are pretty cheap and have it only goes up by 100 on insuarance? Lol

The cost of putting carbs on your car, getting it mapped etc. will cost way more than the extra cost of insurance

I have said this before and the best and easiest/cost effective way to get more power from a 1.4 is to fit a 1.6!

15bhp with minimal effort/outlay.....

A load of scrap yards/breakers will have plenty of mk3 1.6's with the spi lump (dont get the late mpi version as that will need much more work!).....

LOL that looks absolutely awful!!
To be fair if i was going to spend the money it would be on ITB's which look and sound awesome
But then i would only do that to an ABF minimum...

Apart from the poor gains they look pretty sick which would be my only pull!
