Old is off and 2nd hand one is waiting to go on, but i noticed my old one doesnt have the internal circlip where as the new one does. Do you recon this was the source of the knocking, i.e if I put the circlip on my old one and packed with grease it would all be a-ok? I have 3 inner cv joints here and felt a mates the other night and all feel exactly the same with no obvious signs of brokenness.
Cheers lads

No one?
-
Still no one? Need to get this sorted asap

Yes fit the circlip and pack it with grease, should be fine
-
Yes deffo fit the circlip, it won't the cause of the knock but when the steering is on a lock and the suspension extended i.e in a tight bumpy corner it stops the cv joint over extending.

Dirty boy.
Re-pack with grease, fit circlip (why wouldn't you?!) and go again. It'll be fine.

Oh, the circlip was going on no matter what, just wondered if the joint i took off would be ok to use again or because of it not having the circlip i would need to buy a new one

surely you could buy a circlip from dealers or such for very little ??
-
Or just use on of another cv joint. Anyhow the sh!t has majorly hit the fan - the bottom bracket on the passenger door has rotted through  good job I have just started my summer job as a fabricator again

Oh and to ad insult to injury its still knocking when turning left and marginly when turning right
-
could be bearing just an idea?

As said you could have a damaged bearing. Mine was cracked as sound just like a cv joint. Have you check both outer cv joints for play?
