Having just bought an 1988 16v which has big bumpers fitted ( I say fitted ), which i know weren't standard back then, but whoever put them on i don't think has changed the side small bumper brackets to house the big bumper...
Is it as simple as taking big bumper off, replacing side brackets from small round ones to the rectangular big bumper ones and putting big bumper back on again?
Mine has big bumper fitted but these brackets.

Thinkin these should have been fitted when they lobbed the big bumper on the car....

Do the old round small bumper brackets just unscrew/unbolt and big bumper ones bolt straight in their place, or is there even a conversion bracket available?
You might say just put small bumper back on but the fogs and everything are wired in so seems a shame.......

Yes to all of the above.

you may find that when you do the fronts you need to drill a hole in the wing for the bottom clip of the runner
also these dont screw on ,they have a dowel in the middle that you pop out
and if you want to leave the front lower belly pan on you will have to do some cutting/modifying to allow the bumper to fit on,these are the ones you need for the front, notice the clips are offset as the wing is offset too

Yet again good shout. have just found a full set of four brackets/guides (2 rear and 2 offset fronts) on the bay of e for about £5.50 plus p&p......
