getting some pretty bad rubbing on the cups at the rear.

tyres on the rear are 205/50's, if i went 195/45's would that clear the cups or will i need spacers as well?
the struts are spax btw so not standard, think the cups must be bigger?
-
Thats some serious rubbidge dude is it the same both sides then?
-
you want 195/50 tyres on there

Doubt it will clear with these^^ alone , 195 45 + spacers by the look of it
-
both sides but this is the worst
actually, i have 195/45s on the front so i'll do a swap and see how much clearance i have with them on the rear.
i'm thinking 20mm spacers and 195/45's and hammer the arches, kill 2 birds with one stone.

This is what I would do.

i have too much tuck anyway but i know that the arches are rotten under the plastic trims. looks like i'm gonna have to grind the rust out, seal the arches and hope there is enough left to bond the arches back on to.
either that or put the standard shocks back on......
-
i got fk automotive shocks and same problem with 195/ 40 tyres but jus put 10mm spacers on back and no longer rubs
-
I run 205/50 on the rears lowered 40mm with 7j et 36 and it clears ok
Get some spacers :)
-
fair point but i need tyres now anyway so going with 195/45's then spacers and archwork if its needed.

Switch the tyres 1st and see what room that gains you.

Looking at that 195's won't make much difference!
I had 12mm spcaers on the golf and it touched the outer arch real lightly on 205's so on yours 10mm spacers and 195's I think you'll be fine?
-
I would say you have the wrong offset wheels.
You can run 215 tyres and I still have a set to prove that!
They are on correct offset wheels (17x7.5) and never rubbed anywhere!
Fit some concentric spacers 10mm should do.

If i remember the car it's on standard wheels?
I think the suspension cup's are wrong (I do know standard shocks have a removable spring plate.....It could be possible the kit has fixed spring plates which are designed for a mk2 for example?)

correct re the wheels, not sure about the suspension, bought it from khare last year? just hope the 195's solve the problem.
the whole car is for sale as is it now, lost interest again, its just no good as a daily for me. i need a diesel with monster truck suspension!!!

as i said i had standerd wheels with 195 tyres and it rubbed so used 10mm spacers which sorted it
