Yesterday, I saw a DBP GTI sparkling in the sun.
Boy, is black not wonderful when it is clean?

I'm starting to quite like the fine layer of dust that's always on my car. I'm also too ashamed to post a picture until the car is washed.

I've several regrets on my choice of DPB, although I do love/admire the car.
The original picture is taken in St Andrews, with the Old Course as the backdrop. It's about an hours drive from where we stay and the car is covered in insects, bird poo and tree sap on the front even by then if you look closely. We had stayed overnight and I'd reluctantly parked in the last space in the hotel car park we were staying in -right under a tree rather than leave her out on the road. I'd awoken to find a mess from the tree and birds nesting, which was touched up with a bottle of water from a local shop!
I paid extra to get DPB, but would never do so again. It's a pig to keep clean and even when it's spotlessly clean and the sun is shining I've often gone and thought jings the car is covered in dust again, only to find on closer inspection that its actually the pearl fleck I'm seeing in the glare of the sun and not dust - that was money well spent then eh!!
Why oh why I paid £465 extra to get the paint, instead of using the £465 to put Monza Shadows on her I will never know - one of my major regrets!
The only time the car is clean, is when its sat on the driveway!

Buck - that's a great pic; nice and moody. Do you have any others you'd care to share? Black GTDs on Vanc's :nerd: are my fave...
-
Thanks dunc - I got a couple whilst out in the Dales on Friday - not looked through all my shots yet - if there are more I'll pop them up here
-
Deep pearl black looks awful when its got stone chips, but when polished it does look the nuts

Two more added - see page 1:)

1) What camera?
2) Your passenger wiper seems to be a bit high on the screen at rest, mine sits level with the drivers side. ie, below the line of the bonnet.
c) Did you use a polerizer for any of the shots??
-
Hi
1) Canon 500D with either a 10-22 or 17-55 lens
3) No polariser but ND grad to stop the sky blowing then tweaked the levels in Lightroom to get the exposure right for screen (on my PC exposure can look spot on but after uploading to Flickr I find the exposure seems to drop a stop or two
2) I've noticed my wiper more since the car was in the garage for the sensor replacement. (Might be my imagination) Ive always noticed it lifts up slightly when I turn the engine off (as all do) but it seems a tad excessive at the moment - will have to keep an eye on it.

Hello :), yes it's been a while I just rejoined yesterday after forgetting my password.
I have a different number now which I can pm you. Have you been up to Glasgow lately ?
To be honest I would not get another black car. When it's waxed it looks the bees knees. I will be going for white or silver next time round.

Do PM your mobile no.
Have not been to Glasgow for a year now. It will be redressed come Spring.
I'll stay with Red as it brightens my day and costs nothing.
Silver or Shadow Blue would be my next choices.

I have noticed that my wipers are slightly higher than when new, I think it happened last winter when snow became compacted under them, turned to ice and the wipers could not go down.

i'm not sure whether it's my imagination as the driver side one is sitting fine and when you put it in service mode they are both very close to the A pillar.
I might call into the garage one evening (they are on my way home) and ask them to have a quick look/comparison to the others that they have on the forecourt

Team Dynamic Pro Race 1.2. VW Racing special order that deletes the "motorsport logo round the rim and also machined inside so that there is no need for a spigot ring against the hub centre. Oh and the alloys are anthracite metallic - much nicer than gloss black IMO and easier to keep looking clean.
-
I think i speak for everyone when I say that looks foooooking awesome!!!
very tempting.. .very tempting in deed :lipsrsealed:
