Right thats it my bank balance will be ruined!
I have decided to start down the expensive road of mods to my 8 valve, ever miffed by the comments made about the 8 valves performance or lack of, I thought right I'll show em! So tomorrow my first mods being done, a K&N Induction being fitted to help the gal breath a bit better! And maybe a performance back box at the same time, not earth shattering I know but we all know where it leads, the inevitable superchip. Then lord knows what will follow cams, flywheels, uprated shocks, brembo brakes, my missus is gonna kill me she wants a new bathroom!
Thanks very much you lot especially you VR6!!!!!
:P

Once you done the filter , exhaust and chip, the cam is a worthwhile and quite easy upgrade on the 8v. As for everything i said before, no problem mate :-*
-
Got the K&N what an investment! great sound and it does make a difference to the acceleration quite chuffed with it, next thing is the exhaust, any suggestions anyone?
-
Go for jetex or sebring.
-
Full system or is it just the back box I need?
And what does the cam give me?
-
Do a full system. Depends on what cam, get a fast road cam will give about 5-10bhp extra. They are not too expensive either ;D
-
This is sounding good, it aint never gonna be a VR6 I know but Im getting some fun out of it ;D
-
If you got a few quid you should be able to get up to the basic 16v spec ;D
-
Im gonna give it a go, If it gets to 150bhp will it be quicker than a 16 valve bearing in mind the 16 valva gets it power after 4-5,000rpm I mean in theory the 8 valve with that bhp should have a smoother power delivery correct???
-
Don't think there will be anything in it really. You will probably need about 1000 bar to get that spec cos you might need a ported/polished head too. Got to be worth it ;)

I have a mk3 8v. Get a magnex twin DTM back box and have a custom made powerflow pipe from cat to back box straight through in the largest bore stainless. Sounds a beaut and gives a massive performance increase for an exhaust system mod. If your anywhere near Redhill get Mark at RSR to do it. The man created a work of art under my car. Makes all the other Mk3 owners jealous at my local club. By far the best combo. I have now convinced 4 of my fellow dubbers to do the same. One of them ditched his expensive jetex system after he heard mine.
When i pull up at country pubs, people frequently ask if its me driving the TVR they just heard!!!
You can try doing a straight through (no cat) but this was just too loud when we tested it in the garage. Sports cat works great for me and keeps it nice and legal!
-
A sports cat? where can i get hold of one of them?
-
i-espedair
how much did it cost you in the end ?
-
The exhausts going on in a couple of weeks. Im taking advice from my mechanic at the mo being a complete village when it comes to mechanics ???
I'll post on here what he suggests and you lot can give me your opinion he's a VW specialist but u lot live it so i would value your opinions.
Cheers all

I'm not too keen on those DTM exhausts myself :-\

Theres so many to choose from seems a minefield, Ernst has been recommended but ive never heard of them
-
GSF do them, so i would be very carefull!
