Sorry if this is in the wrong section, im new to this site.
Ive got a mk3 golf gti annie, ive just fitted coilovers & new rear axle bushes. The reason for this was the previous owner had cut the springs which is obviously an mot fail. The car had previously been sitting far too low ( tyre right inside the arch) an i thought if i put new bushes & coilovers on this would sort the problem but its still sitting far too low, the coilovers are set as high as they can be. Anyone any ideas?
Thanks
-
silly q but you sure your winding them the right way?
how low is it? pics would help.
why not just put standard springs and shocks back on?
-
Haha yeah mate, I'm new to this site but far from new to
Golfs. Lol. They're winded right up. I'm not sure how to
Upload a pic, can I do it
From an iPhone?
Cheers
-
Coilovers should raise the car all ok
-
Most coily's are a 20mm drop even at full height but I cant see this being far too low
It hasn't got drop plates fitted or owt daft has it??
You need the photobucket app on yr iphone to upload pics
-
This sounds very odd, how close to the ground is sitting then?
-
what size are the wheels
-
Well the fuel tank is literally 2.5-3 inches off the ground. I've had a really really low mk2 before but this just takin the piss. Tbh if I could run it this low I would but it's just totally impractical, especially considering the state of the roads these days. It's clearing the arch but only by literally a couple a mill. I just don't understand what could cause this....?

Wont be low then! your wheels are big and fill the arch. Get some 15's and what coilovers you got? are they new? do they have the helper springs?

oh dear im confused  its been a long hot day
-
Hahaha. Nah the coils are defo the right way. I've had countless sets of coilies an I know what way they wind. I know you can never be too low but this golf is. Lol. I've had a bagged mk4 an this mk3 goes lower. Is there any other reason for this except the coilovers because they're wound so they sit as high as possible. Anyone?
Ta
-
where did you get the coils from? Sounds like theyve sent you the wrong ones...estate ones or polo 6n or summat?
-
are the helper springs in the coilys?
-
Pictures or you lying
if you like I'll pm my number and you can send me a pic to post up.
-
Yeh the helper springs are on. They're fk's, got them off ebay. hope they're not the wrong ones! This link should show you.

Is it as low as mine?
-
if yours is either of those in your pic then yeh, by a good bit. Does the above link work?
-
Well you have something wrong, pain and simple, you should be able to get it a low higher on coilovers.

Can't understand how anyone would think winding the coil all the way down the shock would think the car would sit higher
