Title: Forge dv +remap
Post by: jockgti on 02 June 2011, 23:13
Emailed guy that mapped my car to say i forgot to tell him i have the Forge DV with blowoff which has an adjustable top, which on standard cars should be set at 16 clicks and for stage 1 should be at 21 clicks(but theres some tech stuff i don't quite get).it talks about if the valve fluttering is felt at full boost throttle lift, this is typically an indication that the valve is adjusted to stiffly or if the valve is leaking under wide open throttle before the specified redline of the application is reached,it typically means the valve is adjusted to softly.

WTF does that mean lol, should i just put it to 21 and leave it? or will be the car be mapped the way the DV was when he did it?

He should have told you to bin it..   They dont work well at all and there is no generic setting its trial and error to get on half right.  Sell it and in vest your money in the cheaper Forge 007P DV with a yellow spring fitted, and if your car is a ARZ AUM or AUQ then go do the basic N249 bypass to  help get rid of turbo stall.

I've got a recirculating forge DV with a green spring. It's a 180bhp AUQ Anni with piper cross panel filter. Debating about the remap though. I'd like more power when I need it but also thinking more wear and tear on parts and extra fuel  :undecided:

The spring pressure is not down to clamping force vs boost pressure, its down to how the DV reacts when liffting off the throttle with the deviations of manifold pressure and vacume acting on top of the DV, the idea is to have the blow off as fast and as snappy as you can, this will keep the turbo up to spooling speed between gear changes, making the transition to the next gear a lot sharper & cripser.

The best spring to use for a stage1 or 2 remapped 1.8T will be the yellow spring, and on a stock1.8T green spring.

Ive got the diverter valve off a 911 turbo on mine. It works fine and looks exactly the same as the standard part just has Bosch stamped on it.

When I bought the car there were a few fault codes, one being this. Locally there is a Porsche specialist who had one spare as a lot of 911 owners upgrade when they modify them.

Colour blind then....  It should be green unless it was built during the credit crunch and then needed to make cut back on the cost of paint..
