Title: Wiper Arms

I bought some chromed wiper arms a while ago, that were advertised as Mk1/Mk2 fitment, however when I went to fit them today the thread size seems completely different to whats on my car??

Does anyone know if the thread size changed between Mk1 and Mk2 Golfs?  As far as I can tell these arms won't go onto my car :(

late mk2's are different from mk1's and pre 89 mk2's
