Hi
Can anyone tell me what is needed to upgrade the front brakes, 280mm to the 288mm VR6 versions.
I take it you need the calipers discs etc. But do they bolt straight on? thanks in advance.

If your after better stopping power then upgrade your current set up

Not worth changing for 8mm, just fit good quality pads.

I had 280mm with standard setup. Then I stuck 288mm stuff with mintex M1144 pads and goodridge hoses. That massively improved braking, however I think it's down to the pads and hoses rather than an extra 8mm. Still, every little helps, and I believe the 288mm discs are slightly thicker too, so better heat dispersion. You'll want carriers, calipers, discs and pads. Most likely you'll need new brake hoses too as the 280mm uses hoses that screw into the caliper and the 288mm uses banjo screws.

and just so you dont go searching for brakes off a vr6 only:
All GTI's and VR6's have 288mm brakes if they were made after 1996 i believe (correct me if i'm wrong)
Pre 1996 they all had 280mm brakes.
