Title: Advice needed re lacquering
Post by: mr wong on 03 April 2005, 11:56
Right guys heres the script.

I'm the proud owner of a Mk3 Jazz Blue Colour Concept. I wash and polish/wax my baby all the time. I am starting to notice allot of wee (Scottish for small!) scratches all over the car, which is consistant with age and the driving that I do.

I cant afford a re-spray but my mechanic reckons that a good body shop industrial wax and then re- lacquering the car will bring it up almost as good as new for between £300 £800. I am very tempted by this and was wondering if anybody here has already done this and what the results were like.

Any info are help appreciated.

I've also just noticed some laquer missing off the drivers door. Must be the lovely scottish weather we have   I've got to replace the tailgate, so i was wandering to just replace the door while i'm at it, just hold out for a perfect match.

Sounds like your bodywork needs a good scrub using some stuff called "bodyscrub" its a bit like a t-cut but a good valeter or bodyshop will use a buffing machine to take out the minor scratches. This will give ya car a new lease of like, and only costing 60 quid at the most.
£300-800 sounds alot of money m8 as you could get a top full spray job for 800 quid.
Good luck m8
