Title: Brakes & C/locking..
Post by: Christo77 on 01 June 2011, 19:51
Hi guys..not been around for a while as restoring a motorcycle, couple of things if ok..

On the rear caliper piston, to wind it in for fitting new pads..is it necessary to disconnect the handbrake cable from the caliper in order to wind the piston in? it's just i can't budge the piston as is..

Also, i have an air leak in the central locking somewhere around the boot from drivers door to door pillar.. i suspect it's a joint as mentioned elsewhere but do i need to be looking inside the door or on the car side for known air pipe joints?

Thanks all..

If you cannot move the piston, I would guess it is seized which is very common.

Thanks wayne,  and sorry guys to bump this up again but immediately after sending the post my pc crashed and ended up terminal, 11 years worth not bad i guess.  Only just got back online now.

Sorted the probs, had to use a wind in tool on the pistons, wasn't seized but i' never have moved em using makeshift methods and yep door/pillar boot airline pipe hanging loose out of connector block, Done.
