Title: valver failed mot
Post by: Misky on 01 June 2011, 15:30
Dont have the exact details but been told it requires 4 lots of seperate welding, 3 brake pipes, a ball joint and a wheel bearing.  I didnt think it was that bad.

I know it depends upon what welding is required but put that to the side what we looking at?
Im waiting for him to give me a quote as we speak.

The actual parts wont cost that much to be honest. Where it gets expensive is the labour garage costs

Most garages will charge a minimum of £50 an hour labour. My car is booked into the garage next week to get some welding done as well. Been quoted £140 to weld up two rusted drainage holes under the rear floor pan. Most of that cost will be taking the carpets up etc and the prep work.

Im going to do most of the prep work myself to get the cost down.

It will be the welding work that will cost you the most. Which parts need welding?

As above, tell them you can do the prep work yourself, makes it quite a bit cheaper.

All you have to do is take everything off or move it out of the way until they can gain clear access to the affected area!
