how many engine mounts does mk4 agu engine have...
also when i brake hard i get a load knock from the engine and feels like whole engine has flown forward and slammed back
and when i let go of the gas i get a jolt from the engine will this be the mounts??
thanks guys

You have two engine mounts and then the gearbox to subframe mount aka the dogbone mount
If you're replacing them, get the THS Performance ones; cheaper than OEM but 30% stiffer without compromising smoothness
Worked a treat on my TDI

I'm speak to chris.. He's got some lying around that I can have hopefully.. So Is the jolting my engine mounts gone.. Cus I can also rock the engine a bit abt cm forward and back without that much strength.
-
Could well be the mounts; there should be a bit of movement but not excessive

Its definetly excesive..nnotice there's a small bush in the dogbone mounth gona get that changed as have poly bushes in that mount.. And just hunt for some engine mounts ill keep on ones you said rhyso. There very pricey parts. Thanks link mate ill have a look.

Is it bad to get used mounts off the bay and use new bolts??
-
wouldnt have thought so, just 100% new bolts. Drivers side is £4 for both, passenger side is £2.50.
-
Yh gona get em from dealers.. Can I not just keep mount I have then and use new bolts inc bolts for dogbone mount.
-
depends whats gone mate, u can buy new bushes for dogbone cheap, which is what stops your front to back rocking and put new bolts in. all in for £20 i would have thought. Then £6 for your drivers and passenger side engine mount new bolts.
If the engine mounts have gone themselves then you will be replacing bolts again, but from reading what you have said, id do dogbone 1st, spending as little money as you can sorting the problem doing it bit by bit.
Dont know if the 4mo one is stronger as standard for £13? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BREAKING-4motion-MK4-golf-dogbone-gearbox-mount-/270757605785?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f0a693199

Iv already got poly bushes in the dogbone mount.. The bolts look rotten tho lol and I notice a little bush on the dogbone mount 2 which is seriously bent and mesed up.. So think ill jus change the bolts for dogbone mount and that small bush first then.. What you said makes sense that might sort it save me buying mounts for 150 odd quid :-)
-
if your still serious about selling up, you can get both mounts for £60. Wouldnt have them myself though, just f your fixing to sell.
The little round one your on about, is the one at the end of the bit near the front, that connects the sump to the first decent bolt in dogbone?
-
Yh I think its that one mate so if I change it wud the oil leak out while its off or is that just a bush?.. Yh mate gonna be seeling up.. Ill do jus the dogbone mount bolts first that might sort it then don't need mounts.
