hi lads, the pinch bolt on my b5.5 passat is seized  and the net has sheared off and i cant get it removed
the nut end of the bolt with the thread on has been drilled out past where it was threaded to but still wont come out, even with hammer and punch
have cut the bolt through the gaps of the bit the bolt goes through - just given me 2 pieces to remove really
soaked in wd40 and plusgas for 3 days now - not done sod all
the head of the bolt is nigh on impossible to get a rachet on - or i'm dumb and not using one of the attachments i should be or something. but using just a rachet, dont have leverage/strength to crack the nut off. room is real tight so cant grip properly to use full strength - not that i've much
drilling isnt getting me anywhere - whats the best sort of drill bit to use? hss sds it doesnt make any sense to me tbh

long pinch bolt on the top of the hub that retains both upper controll arms ?
that bolt ether comes out ok or is a right bastard, pointless trying to drill it out you'll never hold the drill straigh enough.
you my have made your life harder by cutting the bolt the only way it's comeing out is with the serious weapons.
HEAT, OIL HEAT, OIL AND MORE HEAT, also get abig manky screwdriver or cold chissel and welt it into the gap that the pinch bolt tightens to help open it up.
if needs must weld a pice of bar onto the bolt head if it's competly wounded off.
if it still won't budge get it hotter and hit it harder

I had this problem on my A8, upper pinch bolt.
Drilling doesn't work, as Danny said its impossible to hold straight, even though i did try.
I had to get a second hand strut, and drill and chisel what was left of the bolt to release the control arms.
A total f**k*r of a job

warm it up !!! only ways its gana budge is to get sum serious heat on it then give it a good wack and it will cum free

I think the reason why these bolts get stuck is people over tighten them in the first place.
Its a double clamp, so i suspect the bolt itself actually gets deformed.
No heat would of shifted the one on my car.
