Title: New Exhaust system for Mk2 GTi 8v
Post by: Zoid on 10 September 2003, 17:02
Just had some work carried out on my nearly acquired GTi, and it looks like I'm gonna need to replace the exhaust system in the not too distant future.
Sorry if this has been asked a million times before, but what would be the best choice for a 'subtle' replacement....?
I don't want a 'boy racer' type of exhaust, rather a high quality subtle exhaust that will help the engine breathe a little better and sound more sporty, although I don't what it to be loud.  I want a near standard look, with slightly larger bore tail pipes, also stainless steel would be nice.
Suggestion Please.....

I use this company:-

http://www.powerflow.uk.com/

They'll custom build you a 'guaranteed for life' exhaust system exactly to the spec you request. Well pleased with the system on my Audi.

A mate of mine also used them, he got some big bore thing put on his car, he was well happy with it.

Id def agree with the powerflow idea. Ive recently had a full system put on by them, in leeds west yorkshire. Top job, i chose a 6 by 4 style tailpipe, but you can choose any type you want, and also its up to you to choose the sound of the system!

Powerflow have dealers all round the country to help you with a local one. You should expect to pay ?300 all in for the system, but you aint gona have to worry bout it again!!  ;)

Powerflow is a bit hit'n'miss, all depends what garage you get it done at & the welder

put it this way, i wouldnt take it near our Powerflow dealer as he is a total ripoff and also a bodge artisit!!

Longlife are more reputable than Powerflow

I would go for a full exhaust system with a Boxer backbox. Stainless steel will last a lifetime. Also will sound deep but not too boy racer. ;D
