Hi just done an MOT online check and i notcied that it had an advisory now i know what those advisories are.
Oil leak (just done an oil change and doesnt seem to be leaking so hopefully ok)
EML light on? (Does this mean the engine management light? If so this is not on)
Front dics's wearing thin and lipped. I know the 312mm upgrade is popular however at the moment cant afford to buy them. However i have seen these would these work http://www.vwspares.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=223. Would they be any improvement over the standard ones?
Or if you know of a better place to get some that would be helpful. Im just trying to get this car as close to perfect as possible while i still have my other golf to drive around in which helps
Cheers

Little confused as you've linked to a set of 312mm discs yet you say you can't afford the upgrade to them :undecided:
You can't just stick 312mm discs on the car without changing the carriers
-
ye i know thought that might confuse people lol.
Its just on the 312mm upgrade thread it states that they are like £115 so not sure if these are differnet then? ie fake lol. Im guessing these wouldnt be the same as LCR etc ones
Just seen that its £115 for carriers lol
Cheers rhyso guess i might as well order these. Will i notice any difference with braking?

The 312mm does offer a nice upgrade over the standard 288's without breaking the bank
Alternatively just go for some plain discs and decent pads

£95 for the pair? Does this sound expensive? Any other websites where i could get them from? Would ebay be any good or could they be dodgy?

You need the carriers and discs and pads
Can't remember how much I paid for my last set of 312mm discs :undecided:

ye soon as i wrote it i realised what i wrote then re read the 312mm upgrade thread lol. I think as im on a budget i will just purchase some normal 288 and upgrade the fluid and leads. Then when i can afford to i will upgrade to 312
Cheers rhyso

312mm set up is a worthwhile upgrade.
