Hi, new to the forum, so hope i explain this properly - very reliable GTI usually, would not start last week although fine the day before. When tried to start it, the engine tried to turn over and all the lights did their thing - but no start. Also, the CD player in the glove box recalibrated (it does not usually do this when i turn on the car until i switch the radio on). I got a friend with jump leads - before we do this I try to turn the engine over first (to make sure i'm not being a total tard), no engine turn over this time and a faint clicking noise behind the glove box. We start the car via the jump leads, i drive around and the car seems fine. Next day - no working car again! I intend to call the garage tomorrow but have a feeling it's not the battery. I use the car fairly regularly and it only had a service last month - any input greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the battery to me to be honest mate.

+1 to that.
Get a battery test done - The Halfords near me does it for free then tries to sell me an overpriced battery

Same as above. Halfords charges about 97 quid for the bosch ones, but GSF do it for 37.50 plus VAT!!
Robbing cnuts!!!

Thanks - it usually is what i think it isn't! Battery does look a bit corroded but i would have thought they check that in a service? Halfords this arvo me thinks
