mk4 gti 1.8t
my golf gti is holding back and then almost lurching fwd when accelerating every time around 1700 - 2100 revs ????? ive had a genuine new MAF , new genuine coils , plugs and had it on the computer which came up with the front lambda sensor not working properly yet it just passed mot the other day . ive spoken to quite a few people and the all think the Lambda sensor could not affect it in this way so im at a dead end and coming to you guys for a solution to my problem as i really am stumped as to what it could be. the car itself feels like its slightly uneven on idle too but when its over 2500 revs it pulls like a train . any help guys would be brilliant and much appreciated .
cheers guys

hi there mate it sounds like your catalytic converter has collapsed, because your lambda has failed, your management system cant adjust the fuel mixture in certain situations so instead it has over fuelled and your cat has failed.
i had this problem last year...

Have you cleaned the throttle body also might be worth scanning it and seeing if you have any codes stored.
-
^^ worth checking the throttle body. I found on a different car when the engine was cold it would jolt at low revs. Cleanded throttle body and it was fine afterwards. worth a check. Maybe worth flushing the intercooler whilst you're at it too.

If Lambda sensor have failed its going to effect fuelling which will cause hesitating, had this problem last month, changed lambda sensor now working fine  also check throttle body

thanks for the replies guys its much appreciated , i cleaned the throttle body in full and it didn't make any diff really . when i scanned it i got the fault codes saying the front Lambda sensor had failed . but all the people ive spoken too said this would not affect the car in this way so im unsure what to do as i keep throwing more money at it and i cant afford to just keep goin g on replacing everything bit by bit hoping it will fix the prob . i really would appreciate any help at all with this or if you know someone who has had the same problems .
cheers guys

Well if the lambda has failed it will not be helping.

does anyone know where i can get a front Lambda sensor from for my golf gti 1.8t ARZ for a descent price ????? cheers

Do your lambda sensor. I changed mine earlier this month or last month, can't remember which, but anyway it made all the difference, really transformed the car.
Takes 30 mins, easy job.
