Twice now I have noticed a noise after replacing the cambelt two days ago.
The noise coincides with the label on the outside of the best passing over the tensioner.
Only happens occasionally on cold start, car drives sweet, could this just be "newness"?
As I say, she sound fine 90% of thr time.

And you used VW parts didnt you?

And you used VW parts didnt you?
Not the waterpump, bought the one with a brass impellor.
It is definately a rubbery/belt kinda squeak but not a squeak, if you know what I mean
-
Did you fit a new tensioner?
-
I had this with the drivebelt after changing my pump and cambelt kit. Took two more drivebelts until the squeak was gone :undecided:
-
its not the lower cambelt cover catching on the belt is it?
mine took abit of bending around till it wasnt touching it and making a noise, sounded sorta supercharged
-
Did you fit a new tensioner?
Yup,
Only happens on cold starts in the afternoons????
Double checked torque settings and everything.
Strange, but it is definately the label!
-
Should I have used any threadlocker?
Ali block so thought not, but what about a little?
-
Sounds like the cambelt is catching the cover also might be worth checking the tension of the belt.
-
Cambelt is not catching the cover, I have ran with it removed, (only the upper obviously)
I swear it its the label on the outside of the belt. sounds perfect most of the tima
-
mine was catching on lower one, the one that bolts on behind the aux belt..
-
Did it again within I just started it, took the top cover off and yup noise coincides with the label, but akso I can see the belt move side to side at the same point.
Maybe 1mm at a push.
-
Wouldnt worry to much about the sticker aslong as your 110% sure it is.
dont want you coming out one day to find your belt ruined as it wasnt that..
-
Fingers crossed, will keep a close eye on it.
