So there I was talking to a guy about booking my other car in for its service and he says to me ''do you still have your mk6 Golf?''
Turns out that there's a guy reasonably local to me ( I've never seen the car around and don't know who it is) who's got the full VWR conversion and is stripping it off before selling up. The brakes have already got a buyer but he's also selling the turbo back exhaust.
I asked how much the guy is going to let it go for and he said £600 as that's about half price so long as it's a cash sale and it get's collected from the workshop without the guy getting his hands dirty.
So, I'm very tempted.
What I need to know is can I just go straight to Stage 2 software with the exhaust and not have an intake and uprated intercooler?
And how much difference in general road driving (I don't hoon around like a 17 year old) does it make? I've only ever gone as far as stage 1 before on any car (apart from an old Ibiza that I went mental on) as I appreciate the better low end torque with the re-map. I hardly ever use high revs (so a K04 would be wasted on me) and the car is used pretty much only for dual carriageway and motorway work.
Is it going to be worth if for me or not?
Quick edit: And how noisy is the turbo back?

When it arrive at GTI International in June I'm heading towards the REVO stand and the VWR stand, and whoever has the best looking woman on the stand will get my money

Thanks to the unfortunate day my Mother-in-law decided to give birth to my wife I don't think I'll be able to come this year so I'll be requiring photographs of said laydees.
I'll have to settle for the Autometrix track day in July instead.
Whichever software you choose it'll be money well spent.

Went with a few friends to my favourite Persian Restaurant
Those lovely Persian waitresses whetted my/our appetite(s) for food and fu...n.
Best Persian food I have ever eaten.
GTI ran like a dream filled with five of us all very heavy with food ..... no alcohol.
I think our waitress was a 32 C. The other one was a 38 DD. I am boss eyed now.
I tipped heavily.
The above is what you call Stage 2+.

Just got back from Växjö.
Never heard of Växjö?
Växjö is the home of the Swedish tuning expert BSR and I just got BSR Stage 2 fitted to my GTI.
BSR Stage 2 is made of a PPC 3 programming device (with original mapping and tuning program) plus BSR Sport Flow cat-back system.
Very satisfied with the new extra power and how it´s delivered. Smooth, seamless and with a bunch of extra torque.
The Sport Flow system makes the turbo "spool-up" faster, keeps the temperature down on fast long flat out driving in Germany (Autobahn) etc.
Can´t wait for dry summer warm tarmac to test the performance

Ah well, just heard back from the guy selling the exhaust and he's putting it all on hold for a while. He's keeping his car a bit longer and thus the mods too.
On the positive side, I save lots of money! £600 on the TBE, plus fitting and stage 2 software saved, and now possibly I'll go back on the hunt for some sexier tail pipe trims as per a previous thread.
:undecided:

Shame.

Yeah, after all the jumping up and down I did before saying it wasn't worth it on a road car (which I still agree with if paying full retail price on all the bits needed to upgrade) I was kind of looking forward to it.
Still, first thoughts were ''ah well, maybe I'll look into the xenon retro-fit again'' and then ''no, I'm not spending another grand or so on that when the car is depreciating so fast''. I blame the internet - too much temptation out there!
So I'll just put things on hold and see if the guy changes his mind again sometime before I get itchy feet again.

I'll wait for someone else to not f11ck about first and then buy theirs second hand when they've finished with it!
I don't mind £600 on a second hand system but I ain't going near a £2.5k system! That's £2.5k towards my next car down the drain otherwise.......
We'll let the big spending boys jump in first

Jim: And don't forget your sound system needs sorting. Better to enjoy the inside sounds than the outside noise!
