Hey Guys,
I think i need to replace the ABS ECU, but i cant work out if i can get any ECU from any GTI.
The one i have is model number:- 3A0 907 379 E
I found a few on ebay but hey are all just listing 3A0 907 379.
Does anyone know what i can use?
Cheers

16v / VR6 is different from threads I have read.
-
i cant work out if my car has ABS + EDS, but i have no idea what EDS is...
-
I think its EDL on the 16v/vr6 designed to reduce wheel spin by applying braking to the wheel losing traction which is controlled by the ABS module, so will need to get the correct module as 8v doesnt have this and 16v is different from the vr6 module
-
is EDL the same as EDS?
-
Never heard of EDS ,EDL stands for electronic diff lock should imagine they are the same thing though
-
yeah, think they are. I was just getting that info from ETKA
Ok, so how will i know if my car has EDL?
Its a 97 GTI 16v
Cheers
Graham

Hi mate sorry to jump in your post but im after same sort of info as im throwing up codes all over my abs system basically codes indicate
1.abs pump isn't working
2.all wheel sensors are not working
so im guessing my ecu maybe fried aswell and mines a 97 R reg abf aswell so i will be watching this post for answers
what makes you think its your ecu gone btw ? im hopeing its not my pump as thats a bleeding job etc
-
Mines a 97 16v and it does have EDL ,think all valvers of this age have it ,although mines not working at the mo due to a wheel sensor that needs replacing ha, :grin
Dragongreen ,sounds like your module is buggered, pretty unlikley all sensors and pump have gone at the same time
-
Im not sure, basically some of the faults that i have change. so that leads me towards the ECU.
But finding out which ECU i need is a pain.

strange, i wonder what it would be on the info sticker... I guess it might have EDL. The ECU i have is the same number as some in the VR6
-
I thought my module was up the swany so bought one off ebay off a vr6 (so they said) and low and behold it would not go on ,if you can find one with the exact same id number should be fine
-
yeah, well im going to go by PN now. They look the same as well.

Yeah thats what im thinking iyrix does make sense as the brakes are still quite good just very obvious no abs is working and as you say EDL as spins quite easily 1st 2nd :grin:Im not sure, basically some of the faults that i have change. so that leads me towards the ECU.

Yeah i feel your pain i havn't seen another pump itself with same part number as mine think i will just try ecu /module off a 96-98 model im sure it will be the same then :undecided:

I've found this... So if you know your chassis number...
3A0 907 379 A has changed to 3A0 907 379 C and is for cars up to chassis wvwzzz1HzVW123000 (approx 07/96 production).
3A0 907 379 E has changed to 3A0 907 375 A and is for cars from chassis number wvwzzz1HzVW123001.
-
There are numerous ECU's across the entire 8v and 16v range/ years so it's not just a case of sticking any old one in there for it to work properly.
As mentioned the 16v's have EDL which is a primitive version of traction control, it only works at speeds over approximately 15mph I believe and simply utilities the ABS system to slow down the particular front wheel that is spinning faster than the opposing side. It's not great but it's better than a kick in the nuts I guess.

EDL was standard on all valvers and vr's I believe

This is good to know nice one looks like i should be looking for either part number of the latter choice cheers mate

yeah i think we are after the same.. im in touch with a breakers tomorrow. will let you know what they have.

I've found loads that have the part number 3A0 907 379 D on the ECU.
Does anyone know if this will work? Mine is 3A0 907 379 E
