Title: Beat this
Post by: S4twiggy on 27 May 2011, 18:27
im currently working on a mk5 GTI full longlife service, brand new wheels and tyres(wheels are buckled and cracked) new brakes all round, full scans, data logging, removal of warning lights on dash, new MAF, new window switches and door handle, new CV boots and then its in for the correction detail exterior and inside detail including engine bay and even this will not even complete the car as it has lots of problems with it. i know it sounds like im a mechanic but im not lol its actually in for a detail but the owner wants other things which we provide aswel such as the servicing etc

this car is going to take 2 weeks to complete and even then it wont be complete as there are lots of things that need doing but this will be done over the next coming months.

well i thought id share with you pics of the interior so you can see what im up against, this is just a teaser and full write up shall be coming soon.

but enjoy these pics for now :)

took out the seats so i could get to the extent of the mess

ave seen a lot worse at work. i work at royal mail in a rural office (plenty of dusty farm tracks to joy ride up and down) and some of the vans that i've been in that are a year or two years old that are full of sweetie rappers, that dusty you need to wipe the speedometer to see the mileage and have a gravel pit in the drivers foot well. you just feel so unclean when you get out of them   most are never cleaned inside from the day they arrive till the day there retired at 3/4 years old, and then most look ready for the scrapper
Title: Re: Beat this
Post by: S4twiggy on 27 May 2011, 20:52
yes but they are work vans and not your pride and joy, ive detailed a few cars and some bad ones but this bites the biscuit.

have you seen a worse off GTI than this lol if you have then fair play to the owner of that GTI. this is just the inside aswel mate, you aint seen the exterior and engine bay yet. it will make you sad when you see how this car has been treated.

never mind the damage the engine has taken and everythig else, i think rhys can testify as this being the worse golf we have seen so far. so many fault codes and bad data from the logging runs

once im finished with dean she will be worth eating lol

clay makes a big difference to the cars paint work and removes the contaminants that the naked eye cant see, plus use that tip i said when i was on the phone to you earlier with the fag wrapper.

keep an eye out soon for the before and after the detail mate as it will look a different car.

oh and yes your GTI is lovely and clean, just up my ally mate as i like them clean as you know

new alloys are on the way to me asap.

owner said that the car has not seen a service since he bought it 6 years ago, once i changed the oil i seen what state it was in,the oil filter actually disintigrated in my hands, only about 3 litres worth in it and it was congealed. i really do feel sorry for this car but hopefully what i have done with the help of friends(rhys on here for helping me with scans and data logging- big thanks to you mate) i can get this car back to some of its former glory. it will still need some money spent on it to achieve perfection(if there is such a thing) but this will be done via myself over the next few months

not sure if you know mate but me and my mate took the car out before the service to be scanned and do data logging runs to find out any problems underlying in the ECU, boost leaks, MAF readings etc

if you ever want the car logged mate give me a shout and i can sort that out for you so you know that your car is running in tip top condition.

are you after an apprentice by the way lol i could home my skills as a paint correction specialist into your spraying skills and we could be the dream team of south wales lol

Begs the question, but if the owner paid good money for it in the first place and then treated it like that why is he bothering to have it serviced and cleaned up now? Is he selling it? If not it is a complete waste of time and money because the eejit will only sh!t the thing up again within a week or two.
You'd think he'd have a van if he's going to live that sort of pikey lifestyle.

Sorry, makes me mad to see a nice GTI ruined and just goes to prove that many people only buy them because of the badge.

he has noticed that he cant get no money for it now as its that bad so has decided to spend money on it for the first time in 6 years. it saddens me also when i see a stunning car turned bad. hopefully with my help though i can sort it for him and he will respect the car from now on but only time will tell, i shall be leaving him lots of advice on hwo to keep a car maintained and looking the best it can.
with over a grand spent already and more to come it will still be in a bad state but he has told me to sort it for him over hte next few months
