hi guys, im looking to replace my rear brake pads on my mk5 golf gti 05, what would you recommend? spotted some brembo ones on ebay but not sure if they are any better than the standard ones? cheers

is your car standard mate?
im currently doing a GTI and replaced with all OE parts. just get your self some OE discs(£36 each) and get some uprated pads for extra bite.
what pads are you running all round?
-
its stage 2 at the moment running about 270bhp, not really planning to take it any further but might add an r32 conversion to the front when i get the money
iv got red stuff pads all round and standard discs, the rear discs are starting to warp so only really need to replace those.
did you get the discs from a vw dealers?
-
yes mate, all items i get are OE and from VW or Audi.
your OE disks should be up to the job, its the pads that give us the bite. i have red stuff on my S4 and im running around 320hp and 370lb ft so they do work well(after heat is in them) but most of the work comes from the RS4 fronts(360mm) and i have black diamond on the fronts.
id say just get yourself some new OE rears and keep with the red stuff.(unless your not a fan)
