Title: Oil pressure beeper when pushing it..
Post by: jamie_pyrite on 27 May 2011, 11:54
1996 mk3 tdi 1.9 1Z - 178k on the clock.

If I push the car in say 3rd gear and get up past 3k towards 4k the oil pressure beeper comes on! As soon as I change gear or drop my revs down, it goes straight off.

What would cause this? It's never ever happened at any other time than pushing the car..

There are two oil pressure senders, one for lower RPM and one for higher RPM. If the higher RPM one is buzzing then you've either got a faulty pressure sender or an oil pressure problem.

Ahh.. I didn't know this! Do you happen to know at what RPM it switches to the higher sensor?

I think it's a 2500rpm or thereabouts
