Title: Even more advice on mk2 8v 91'
Post by: mk28vfreak on 10 September 2003, 12:51
Hi Guys and Gals,

Further to my previous posts i have had lots of work done on my gti and have managed to fix most problems, all but one.  I still cant seem to stop it Misfiring/Backfiring.  It only seems to happen when changing down through the gears when travelling reasonably fast.

So far i have had done/ replaced

New Clutch
New Cambelt + Tensioner
New Cam followers
Full Service with all Filters/Leads replaced
Ignition Timing checked
No Vacuum Leaks
Checked all Hoses.

The car run like a dream, apart from this one niggling problem.

Please, please, please

Any Ideas????????????

Thanks for the post,

Had the mixture checked, was running a little lean, but adjustments seem to have made no difference.

f**ked valves?

if the timing and the mixture is OK -it's time to inspect your top end
