Title: Tiny spot of rust
Post by: bobbarley on 26 May 2011, 23:09
Evening chaps.  The old mk4 has got a tiny spot of rust on the wing, right smack bang in the middle, offside front wing.  I'd say maybe 3mm by 3mm wide.  What's the best way to sort it out and cover it up without re-spraying the entire wing?

There's not really a lot you can do with out getting the lost sprayed.  I gues you could try removing the area and touching it up.

Long before going for a full panel respray and all of the hassle that can entail, I'd try a spot repair.  Kurust it and touch it in with a colour match tin.

If you add sufficient paint in thin layers to sit proud of the surface and wet sand it back down, a good polish will have it sorted and you'll be protected for a long time to come.  I've done this a few times on similar sized spots and if you take your time, you can achieve a near invisible fix.
