Title: MK4 engine bay cleaning
Post by: dantheman6554 on 26 May 2011, 23:07
I see all these pictures of immaculate bays, really black plastics etc etc, whats the best product to use?!  all done by hand or pressure wash the lot?

Sick of my bay looking sh*t and old, ive cleaned up the inlet and rocker cover, but want it all looking shiny!

Cheers

Dan

jetwash in engine bay = problems

get some good cleaner like gunk or specific engine cleaner.. then finish with a engine bay dressing..

A Jet wash is ok as long as your carefull, It can then be dressed & give results like this

I covered the bay in de greaser, scrubbed a bit, then quickly rinsed it off.

By no means immaculate, but there's another project in itself

Yeh thats the sort of finish im looking for, Im half tempted go to back to running the engine cover, although with the 007p it makes this difficult, ill get the washer out at the weekend and go to halfrauds for some de greaser and dressing , cheers guys

Autoglym Motorcycle Cleaner is apparently very good

Cover sensitive electrical items, spray all over and agitate with a brush, then jetwash off but don't point it at anything for more than a couple of seconds

Then spray with Autoglym Vinyl and Bumper Care, shut the bonnet and leave to dry
