Title: UK MKIVS, Edition 38, VW Vortex , anyone use these more than this site, or as mu
Post by: dantheman6554 on 26 May 2011, 15:02
Im on here fairly often, but i think ive exhasted looking at all the mk4 projects for ideas etc, so ive gone over to UK MKIVS aswell,  it does seem a little clicky, but theres some good projects on there to look at,  but must say its not as well layed out as this site, not as user friendly

Vw Vortex ive been using for alot of DIYS, seems very thorough but havent used it for general chat etc

Edition 38 i just go on there to dribble over others cars, nothing else really

How about you guys, i have seen a few names on UK MKIVS that i recognise from here

I used to be on ukmkivs, but hated the layout so came here. Sometimes visit ukmkivs if noone on here knows how to do something (very rare) or there's a few diy's ect on there that are pretty good. That's the only time I'm on there, not a member of vw vortex but go on there when I need a how too and can't find it on here or ukmkivs

I use E38, Vortex and Vagingit, but I never post. I just read.

Other forums ignore you unless you have a post count of 2.5k+

I find clubgti very helpfull and tbh thats where I usually go if I have any technical queries, but for the most part its the same people I see from here, I just seem to get faster technical responces over there :P

Clubgti is a immense for obscure info. Basically talked me through stripping and re-building my 16vt, responses on here were... erm, slow

Started here, member of ukmkivs but never really got into the site as much as here

Browse ED38 but don't bother posting

And then there's Audi-Sport

Stick around here as I've made some good friends over the years and enjoy the banter

I used to read clubgti until I was banned....

Because they wouldn't refund me my £25 from a rr day I had cancelled a few days before it happened so I threatened them with small claims court. Only words I can think of are childish,  cry babies, sad and its not a forum, its a business

i recently signed up uk-mkiv from reading about it in here, however this is the only site i really use, i get all the info i need from here, and i enjoy reading the banter on here, it brightens my day, ive only signed up on uk-mkiv if ever comes a time when nobody on here can help me, which is rare

all these other related sites i find very 'dub-scene-esque', which isnt me, im not into the dub scene, i find it stuck up and b!tchy, well it is here in the midlands anyway, i bought my mk4 because i like the car, not the so-called scene its meant to belong with

To be fair, if I was organising an event and someone cancelled a few days before it happened then I wouldn't have refunded anyone either. If you can't commit 100% to an event then don't commit in the first place and if you can't make it (for what ever reason) do the honourable thing and do not ask for a refund so late in the day, otherwise it just affects the cost of the whole event for everyone. I don't see what they did wrong there to be honest.

...and in answer to the original question, I've alway been on here and always will be. If I go on clubgti, e38, dubforce or any of the others it's just because I'll nosey at the cars for sale sections, nothing else. I don't even own a VW anymore and I'm bored of the whole scene to be honest and I'm only on here due to the good mates I've met off here over the years. :afro:

I said about a week prior to event I may not be able to go due to starting a new job on the day of the event. A few days before, I said I couldn't go. The event was organized by a guy who owned the garage and was a member, so no rising costs to anyone.

so if you had bought show tickets ( for example Volksfest ) would you expect your money back from that too if you suddenly couldn't attend.

tbf, i duno how they do things over there, but if i have a member who cant make an event which costs, like a show, i simply sell their ticket to someone else, that way, the original person gets refunded and somebody else gets the ticket at cheaper cost...

Should that be the organisers responsibility to sell it or the peron who can't make it ? I know which I think it should be.

I'm sorry but if when I organized the JKM dyno day I started taking payments well before I doubt as many people would come. Yes a lot drop out on the day of the event but at least they have the safety of knowing they're not loosing out on money, and ending up disappointed like me.

And before you "lol", I was advised to threaten clubgti with a small claims court by someone who knows legal advise more than well enough. Clubgti just had a cry about it and quickly banned me before giving me a chance to speak out. A few people had dropped out and didn't get a refund, and at £25 a pop clubgti has made £100+ from nothing...That to me is theft.

depends who is in possession of the tickets

when i book my club into a show, i keep hold of all tickets and club stand passes till the morning, if somebody cant make it, i simply sell the ticket to another attendee and refund the original person when i see them, it keeps everyone happy with nobody falling out with my club, im not looking to penny pinch from my members

however, if of the morning, somebody doesnt attend without notification, i keep their ticket and they lose out!

How you organise events on here is irrelevant in this case.

Its the risk you run when paying for ANYTHING up front unless you take out cancellation insurance,  is it not.

If you were advised so well did you pursue it ? getting banned shouldnt have stopped you surely.

And yes, theft in your opinion - strong words  - lets hope they dont take legal advice and act on it.

That's the fair method, keeps everyone happy and if in the day of the event you can't make it then that's your problem. But if you give them a few days notification, then I don't see what the problem is.

Good on you for doing that. :afro: Personally, I couldn't be @rsed with the reponsibility of sorting something out for someone else when they can't be bothered to sort it out themelves. There's not many people like you out there dude, be careful people don't take advantage.

you booked a slot,  you payed  you didn't turn up, your loss

if you cancel in good time fair enough you should probably get a refund but a week ? FFS   unless it's on a weekend thats unlikely to be enough time for someone else to get the day off if it's in the week.

for it to be theft  you would have had to turn up and been told to f**k off and not get a refund.   also  they proably din't make said amount of profit  rolling roads that are any good cost a LOT of money and have to be payed for.

I'm on here mostly cos of the friends and different range of projects. Then am on mk2 owners club, but after they made the new site don't really post as much. Cluyb gti I use when I need to know how to do something and want a reply quick. And bomber county dubs (the local) to see when meets are and if any think else has happened recently.

I'm always finding myself on my phone internet on golfgti though

I disagree Khare, when sorting out the RR day we asked for a provisional list and set a deadline for payment (of 2 weeks before the event). Anyone who hadn't paid wasn't coming and any spare slots could be taken on the day. It worked extremely well no-one pulled out after the payment deadline and even Chuff managed to get on the rollers on the day.

IIRC around half of people dropped out on the day at JKM.

As far as dropping out a few days before hand, I would have told you that it was your responsibility to sell the ticket on if you want to see any of the money back.
