Title: Bluetooth Connection Issues Iphone 4
Post by: thunderstarter on 26 May 2011, 12:49
Hi, has anyone got the Genuine VW Bluetooth (I think they call it a Berry at VW) the little black LCD screen thing that mounts on the dash?

Looks like this...
http://www.shop4volkswagen.co.uk/product/Bluetooth_Kits_000051473A (http://www.shop4volkswagen.co.uk/product/Bluetooth_Kits_000051473A)

I've had mine installed for well over a year now and its always worked flawlessly with my Iphone 3G. I upgraded to Iphone 4 a few weeks ago, all latest software updates are installed on the phone but it wont connect to my car unless I manually turn bluetooth off and then back on, every time I get in the car. Rather annoying.

There is an option on the VW interface to install an update, but it asks to connect it to a computer. Im guessing this is something that a VW dealer will have to download and install?

Does anyone know a fix?

Ta
Dan

Looks like the OP modified his post, look at the time stamps.

I have no experience with this Bluetooth in car kit so can help Im afraid. If it were me I would speak to dealer that installed it and ask if they have had any other people complaints of people having iPhone4 connection issues. They might have a fix.

Good luck.

I didn't say it was OEM, it was fitted by a VW main dealer when the car was about 2 years old and so assumed it was genuine VW part. I've seen other main dealers fit the same unit.

lets not split hairs, but you called it "Genuine VW Bluetooth", which is basically OEM, means the same thing in my book and that aint genuine, unlness someone can say different?

Yeah, Im pretty sure that isnt a VW bluetooth thingy (technical name there). The VW bluetooth thingy works via the highline display.

As you said though, lets not split hairs. Have you tried calling them? What did they have to say?

Technically if VW supply and fit it from VW stock then its oem :nerd: just cos its not integrated doesn't mean its not genuine vw gear.

No I agree, but why would they make 2 different bits of kit that do the same thing?

OEM = Original Equipment Manufactuer

VW dont make it, so not OEM!
