Good.. The less of it there is the better.

And if anyone suggests that Spanish culture will suffer.. I am a staunch supporter of Bull culture which doesn't take kindly to spears being put in their backs or swords being put through their bodies or ears being cut off while their still alive.

what a load of bollox it is anyway!!

think the fact that the staduim is only a 1/5 full says it all.

Would have been aot more fun if the bull fighter got stuffed more often anyway

I thought this! You can guarantee it will be a sell out on the last few fights (if you can call them that) because its 'culture'

In a way it's sad that it's the end of a part of their culture, but times change, cultures change. It was going to happen sooner or later.

Maybe the Spanish do bull fighting to cull the number of bulls in the same way we do in fox hunting..

Maybe they'll take up fox hunting instead.

It's being banned in Catalunya (which is one of the most popular bull fighting places). It's still legal in many provinces of Spain especially in the south. It certainly still goes on in the city were I'm from in the northwest. Every summer a medieval feast takes over the city and the ring is packed with people. Horrible, horrible sport.

I believe it was introduced as a substitute for gladiators, when there was a short ban on gladitoral fighting.
Im pretty sure the bulls are bred in captivity for fighting, so fighting them in this manor is irrelevant to culling numbers.

well hopefully the rest of Spain can take a leaf out of the Catalunyans book... I never understood why people would pay to watch something being killed in a drawn out and painful manner?

God knows. My grandma and uncles have been going every year with their "peña", known as a clan or group in english. I don't see the fun in it to be honest. Nothing more horrible than hearing an animal cry in pain and frustration. If only you knew the full extent of what they do to the bulls before the bullfight. Rubbing vaseline on their eye balls to blur the vision is one, and kicking them in the testicles to anger them up is another  It's sad to see a symbolic animal of strength and power cry out and only just being able to stand on it's 4 legs while a coward torero takes the glory and kudos. This is why when I hear on the Spanish news about a torero dyeing or being turned into a vegetable or even better getting shafted up the back doors or in the bollox by an angry bull, I get a warm feeling inside of satisfaction and pleasure. Shame not enough toreros die.

The only sport, where I enjoy the Humans coming worse off, than the animals... for this reason, I actually enjoy Bull fighting, though I must stress, that the only time I do watch it, is in clips on Youtube etc knowing that an animal is getting the better of a Human... sad that the bottom line is always the same though
