right just been to see a mk2 golf gti 8v localy and other than a few bubbles of rust that im not to bothered about the chasis and body seems in very very good condition, now its been stood for about 2 months but starts on the button, she has a oil leak from rocker cover, and the brakes are shocking due to it being stood and only having around a 1/2 inch of disc surface thats useable, almost standard condition apart from g60 rims. imaculate interior no dropping headliner fully working mfa, tax and 6 months test. loads of history. what would people call a fair price? Ive agreed a price with the work needed in mind, just wondering what the going rate for a good 8v is these days. oh and its a charcoal grey colour.

will see what the bora gets to on ebay as have my eyes on a few others, just want a good solid base for me and my lad to build as a proper project. its the perfect car to start teaching him how to repair and maintain a car.

My bro just bought a tornado red g reg 8v 3dr for 700. Needs a wing (has had a pattern one at some point which is rotten through) picked up a genuine tornado red one for 30.. Very solid shell, minor scuffs as expected for age, has got all new headlights, fogs and Indicators, stainless exh, alloys etc. Basically they're going cheap, hold out for a 3dr, they are about.. The 5dr will do your head in one day, trust me!! Don't settle for 2nd best!!I'm making a swift exit now I've set the trap...
-
prefer the 5 door tbh as its handy when you have kids and have no end of crap to carry around, no leaning into the rear to get stuff out ect
-
Not overly bothered about the doors really, had both and have a four door now I paid £400 for.
A few parts from work (ecp) and a bit of time later she gets compliments and I've easily doubled her value.

Bought one off ebay 2 weeks ago for £330  2 door 8v, MOT till October. Needs some attention, new discs and pads on the front and couple of other niggly bits. I bid higher but that's what I got it for, bargain?!? Do check ebay, prices seem to be dropping at the moment. If there's one near you go and check it out, I bought this one blind and got lucky!
-
I reckon the bargains will dry up in the near future, get them now or regret it people.
